Aruban Florin AWG history
Aruba has the Aruban Florin as their legal tender.  The ISO 4217 code is AWG. 100 cents makes one Florin.

The Aruban Florin replaced the previous currency used in Aruba which was Netherlands Antillean Guilder at par.  The peg value that was inherited for the Netherlands Antillean Guilder versus USD continued to the Aruban Florin, which was 1.79 Florin per USD then in 1986.

Coins of value 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 cents were issued in 1986 along with 1, 2-1/2 florin coins.  In 1995, five florin coins were introduced in circulation.  All the coins were minted in nickel bonded steel.

Currency notes of value 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 florin were introduced in 1986.  In 1993, the 500 florin currency notes were issued.  The 5 florin coins were replaced with currency notes in 1995.

The currency sign for florin is”f”

The Aruban florin fluctuates with the USD on the world market. Current exchange rates are Af. 1.78 to the U.S. dollar. Though the Aruban florin is denoted by AWG legally some people refer to it as “AFL” or “Guilder” because Aruban florin replaced the Netherlands Antillean Guilder which was the previous currency of Aruba.
